This spring, construction will begin on an exciting project for the entire community. The proposed Union Plaza in east downtown will be a spectacular addition to our city. The park is part of the Antelope Valley Project, and the creek channel will spiral through the park, creating unique water features, fountains and a waterfall. A new trail will connect to five existing trails. A new outdoor amphitheater will provide new opportunities for arts and entertainment, and public art projects will be integrated into the design.

When the park is completed, Lincoln families will have a new place to gather, play and create memories. But the benefits of the park go far beyond that. Businesses will locate along the edges of the park so their employees and customers can take advantage of the new setting. Union Plaza will promote growth and help to expand our tax base.

Private donations will pay for a significant portion of the new park, and an endowment will cover its ongoing maintenance. This is another example of what we can accomplish when the public and private sectors work together.

Lincoln's future demands vision and unity to move us forward. Union Plaza is part of that vision -- a place of discovery, gathering and celebration.

Sincerely,
