In 2006, a group of Lincoln business and civic leaders, now known as 2015 Vision, identified 10 Pillars to insure the strength of Lincoln's Future, including Union Plaza.

Features:
Park features include fountains, seating areas, an outdoor amphitheater, an overlook area, a children's play area, a new trail connection, a pond plaza, public art, and a plaza walkway suitable for community events and festivals.Size:
Approximately six acres, located directly south of Trago Park and the Malone Community Center, on both sides of the Antelope Creek channel.Cost:
Basic Park Improvements: $3.3 millionPark Features and Amenities: $3.1 million
Park Endowment: $1.5 million
Funding:
Public/private partnership between City of Lincoln (keno funds), 2015 Vision, the Lincoln Parks Foundation, and individual and corporate donors.Timeline:
March 2008 -- Lincoln Parks Foundation announces community fundraising campaign.Summer 2008 -- US Corps of Engineers begins Antelope Creek channel construction.
Summer 2009 -- Construction of park features and amenities begins.
Fall 2010 - Park completed and open to the public.
