The Lincoln Parks Foundation and the City of Lincoln invite the public to a free “Celebrating the Prairie Corridor” event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at the Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave.

The Prairie Corridor on Haines Branch project will create a 10-mile-long tallgrass prairie passage and trail from Pioneers Park Nature Center to the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center. The project is designed to build on Lincoln’s trail system, promote ecotourism, support environmental education and preserve tallgrass prairie. The project’s website is prairiecorridor.org.

The event includes an opportunity to tour the Prairie Corridor Trail using Pedalpushers pedi-cabs or BikeLNK bikes. A Discover the Prairie Scavenger Hunt is planned for kids. The public can visit the Hudson Cabin and Heritage School and view the prairie from the perspective of a drone.

The event also includes a silent auction to benefit the Prairie Corridor project, and food will be available for purchase from Gelato To Go, Kitchen Sink Bakery, The Gilded Swine and Roaming Tacos.
